U.S. Chickens to China and Back

In a recent move by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it has now allowed the move for chickens raised in the U.S to be sent to China for processing, and will be sent back to the U.S. for consumption.

Critics all over the nation are concerned on the type of the Chinese food safety system in place. Some of the issues and concerns date back to early 2007 when several products such as baby formulas were found to contain the chemical melamine.

In the last couple of months, news of avian influenza outbreaks has been reported in China’s chicken flocks.

And though the Agriculture Department assures that safety standards will be the same, people are worried on the quality of the processed chicken are sent back.

We’d love to hear your comments on this.
